Hi all,

I have been lurking for awhile and would appreciate some feedback on the song. It started with a quick guitar and vocal recording to capture the song's feel before I forget how it should go. I thought I would record it again but it didn't happen. I added more parts to it and there you go.

Please let me know what you think, what's good, what's bad...thanks!!

The piano sounds as if it's been through a detuner.
The bass needs definition - try a peak at 3khz.
Beefheart would like this.
I do.

ditto on evrything rayc said. plaus (lol) your voice reminds me of the mupets
and the song could really use a drum and is that a real sitar ?

Thanks for the comments rayc, NB, GL.

That was my 6 yr old daughter on piano. It was actually unrelated to what I was playing. She was practicing but I went ahead and recorded the song anyway. Finding a quite moment to record can be a challenge. I was lucky the other daughter didn't start talking to me in the middle of the recording. :)

For the bass, how much of a peak at 3KHz.

Beefheart. I like Beefheart. Cool.

The sitar was an acoustic guitar with a wahwah effect. It was a sitar accident.

The muppets, that's good right. :D

Thats funny. I was going to comment that the piano playing didn't fit at all, but i thought you were going for some kind of effect - and it really doesn't sound bad. :D

Start with a 3dB peak at 3Khz & then raise lower as sounds appropriate. Sounds like a simplistic trick & it is BUT it does work (thanks Tim) amazingly well in many situations.
If you want to be a little more complex an almost equal cut in the acoustic will create more space for the bass.

Definitely got some captain influence in there.

Recording isn't too bad. Maybe add a little chorus to your vocals, just to give them some extra space in the mix since they're the focus.

I'm not really sure what to think of the song... I'm into the odd side of music, so it appeals to that but it definitely has a 'thrown together' quality that might be TOO raw for even my tastes.

I'd be interested in hearing you do some serious stuff ;).

Actually, If you get rid of the hickish vocals, it would not sound too bad!
