I've got a problem with a loud drummer, need some advice.

The guy I play with uses 7A's(lighter, thinner) and he's got a very full tone and volume without compromise. It's still stage volume but, comfortable. It's all in the wrists, I guess.

the problem that i've run into isnt that i cant play softly, but that when i get on the stage playing a show and get a bunch of adrenaline in my system, i don't even notice my volume. i guess it's a matter of the situation for me. dynamics are in effect. i still do crescendo's, etc....its just that live, when i play soft i end up playing loud, and when i play loud....i end up playing REALLY loud. playing soft at practice isnt really a problem for me though

Nothing's wrong with that man! Playing live is more fun than rehearsal so we all play louder, harder and with more energy.

Learn how to spell, type and speak english you retard!

Holy crap, someone piss in your cornflakes today? Not everyone in an english fucking major. I know developmentally disabled folks with more class than you ya big douchebag.

Get a new drummer, Dave

Fire that guy and go dig up Al Jackson Jr. because, unfortunately, there aren't any Rock drummers among the living who understand that not every bit of empty space needs a drum fill and that you don't need to wear out the heads at every performance.

quit your band, it's not the drummer, it's the shitty ska you're playing!

you said all help was appreciated, thought I'd nip it in the bud.

I'm not trying to be a 'Derek Verner' here but its;

"Learn how to spell, type, and speak english you retard!"

You see that comma after 'type',you forgot that one.

I mean sence you complained about his lack of grammar skills, I thought that I might point out your short comings.

I thought one turn deserved another for the laugh.

'sence' is spelled 'since' and the whole thing is a run-on sentence.

1. Put practice pads on the drums.
2. Turn the PA to face him directly.
3. Turn all amps towards him.
4. Give him brushes.

I did spell grammar right, you gotta give me credit for that. ;)

I'm a drummer who plays everything from Metal to light jazz, and I know drummer like yours.......

You don't say how old he is (some of this does come with age for some people) but in the end - if he doesn't fit - you have to replace him.

What does he say when you tell him he's too loud? Does he get defensive or does he accept it?

Perhaps you could do a one mic recording of your practices....... that would help him to see that he's overplaying in relation to the band.... perhaps he would then try to fit in and get his levels to match yours.

Sometimes a picture like that is worth the thousand proverbial words.

You could play back your practices each day after your workout.... then he would begin to see any improvement he was making.

Just a thought.

Good luck,

Rod

Sorry seryozha but the comma after type, while not incorrect, is not actually necessary. Unfortuantely the i in since is.

Also, shortcomings is one word.

I don't eat Cornflakes!
It's funny how you make one comment about something specific and it gets blown out of proportion. Did anyone read the original post that I was referring to? It was almost unreadable. If you want someone to take you seriously, then you have to speak (or in this case type) somewhat intelligently. You don't have to be perfect (I know I'm not) but "probably" is not spelled "prolly." That is why I called him retarded. I know he isn't, but it is my way of making a point. It's called sarcasm.

Nice! That's funny!

Since you knew he was attempting to spell 'probably', I'm not certain it was neccessary to make a comment on his spelling.

You understood, right?

So, communication was achieved.

I was just looking at my post concerning seryozha's grammar and I noticed that I left out not one, but two comma's myself.
So maybe I should shut my mouth, or fingers, or whatever.

And you misspelled 'neccessary' and 'unfortunately'! ...lol...

Alright, InTheFire, before you get too proud of yourself, I may have misspelt 'unfortunately'(a typo) but I sure as hell didn't misspell 'NECESSARY'. Two C's???? Are you freaking kidding me? This is quickly becoming the most depressing thread I've seen in this forum.

I'm sorry. You were right. I always get that one confused. This is why I don't knitpick. (lol)

That's alright, InTheFire, no apologies NECESSARY!

Sorry, couldn't resist.
