It's all about timing...

I have recently decided to take my recording a little more serious. Ive upgraded my equipment (for what it is and can do, I have found no need to upgrade the Mr8) and spent countless hours toying with mic placements and all the little variables that make recordings sound decent, and I think I have nailed that part. Where Im having problems is the fact that I record alone, yes all by me lonesome, and Im having problems keeping everything "nsync" (sorry I had to). I can't seem to come up with a formula or an order in which I record my instruments and they mesh together.

If any of you kind souls have any advice I would love to hear it. I know the mr8 has a click track but I dont really understand timing in music at all...so help in that area would also be great..

thanks in advance

At all? This seems impossible, my brother. When you strum up and down upon your guitar at a regular rate of speed, that is "timing." When everybody in the band changes from G to C at the same prearranged moment, that is timing. I know you know this. Be less hard on yourself and acknowledge your ability, or take music lessons. You can learn all you need to know for purposes of pop or rock, in terms of timing, in 4 lessons or less. You seem sharp, so you can probably get a video and teach yourself enough rudiments to play as well as the Go-Go's, and they had a hit record. No disrespect to the Go-Go's. Good luck.

I guess I should clarifly that when I say that I dont understand "timing" I mean like 4/4 3/4 ect.... Ive played guitar for about 10 years and drums for 3, and I know I have a natural knack for time, Just not in a formal way...I will look into a video lesson or somthing..
