I start moving into a new house this weekend. I talked my roomate into letting me have one of the larger rooms (its 15ft wide and 50ft long) for my new recording area. The larger space is going to be great but it also kind of sucks because ive just got where i know what areas of my current house work well with different instruments and what not.
Since everything is going to be in one large room now I was thinking about building some sort of isolation box for my guitar cabs. I usually use a 4x12 marshall jcm cab so i know it has to be at least that big plus the space for a mic and a mic stand. My question is , is there any dimensions that will work well or is too small for this sort of thing? What should i make the box from, what should i treat it with? Is this a dumb idea?

i guess this is/was a dumb idea

oh well. Ill see what i can work out on my own. Thanks anyways guys.

Randall makes an iso cab for exactly that purpose... it works very well, but leaves an almost too-close-mic'd sound... slightly "boxy", you might say.... stll better than a POD though!

Id build one based on the design though and save about $400.

I have on just big enough to place a 1-12 amp inside.
