Is this viable?

Okay, I have been recording with my Korg D1600 and exporting the tracks to cd and editing on Cubase SX. Now Cubase has been cool for cleaning up the tracks as far as unwanted noise and things like that. As far as editing though it doesn't seem like it really compares to the Korg. Is this right? I mean, I have heard GREAT things about Cubase and this doesn't seem right. I would have thought that Cubase would have blown away the Korg. There isn't even an exciter or expander in Cubase!

Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im not totally sure what you mean. You say that Cubase isnt great with editing but then you state that it doesnt have an exciter or expander. Editing and applying effects are two totally different things. I dont know anything about your Korg but i would be suprised if its editing abilities come even close to Cubase. As for the effects you can buy or download (freeware) VST compatible products which you can then use with Cubase.
 
I always assumed that editing encompassed cutting, pasting, and deleting as well as manipulating the actual sound of the recorded track. Maybe I am using the wrong software then. I am recording all live music, no MIDI, and I am looking for a program that will have all of the features of a stand alone DAW. Is there such a program?
 
Cubase has excellent editing facilities. Try right clicking the mouse over the arrange page and selecting processing. This should offer you some of SX's audio processing tools. In the same menu editing will allow you to cut,paste etc etc.
