Ok, I attached a little idea of what Ill end up with.

Does this look right?

Im thinking of either sonar 5 or cubase for recording.

what would you suggest for my purposes?

Yes, that'll work great! Use the Lightpipe ins and as you expand your system you can add more Pres and use the line ins on the 1814. I would recommend looking up MoreMe headphones. they're 30 bucks a piece and they've outlasted my 80 dollar headphones and sound just as good. Get the Studio Delux ones...

Good call on the HR's, and 6's will do ya for now. What mics did you settle on?

Im thinking of a few 57's, a rode nt1 and some others, but Im more focused on just getting the basic components in check before getting into more specific things!

Except the US2400 is USB only, not Firewire. Other than that, It's almost exactly what I have.
 
yup, usb 2.0 sorry for that error!
