I just purchased Reaper last week and I am extremely impressed. I have Pro Tools 7 but I just liked the looks of Reaper and all the reviews about it. I find Reaper to be a lot easier to use and it has a ton of features for such a low cost program. My main problem is that I have a song that a friend sent me that is 14 tracks. It was all recorded @ 48kHz/24 bit. When I load the tracks in Reaper and try to add effects to the tracks I start to hear serious crackling and my processor starts to become bogged down. When I load the exact same tracks into Pro Tools I can add twice as many effects and still not hear any issues with playback and my processor doesn't seem to be having to work as hard. I have tried to use the Reaper Remote feature but I don't think my network card does much better trying to send and receive the information to my other computers because it still has major issues with playback. Is this because the RTAS plug ins are more efficient than other plug ins like VST? I would really like to stick with Reaper but with only 5 or 6 effects causing my computer to run really slow I may have to go back to Pro Tools
.
