That 200 watts is PEAK power, not RMS. That would be more like 1/4 of that.

ya good eye track rat. i hate when companies try to be sneaky like that. although it is a useful stat, they know that joe schmoe consumer wants to know the rms wattage.

That is a good catch -- I would not have looked twice at that (mostly due to ignorance of the whole peak vs. RMS concept).

However, I'm still a little intrigued by them because they also have an '800w' version (which would be about 200w RMS, right?):

Plus, if you hit the 'buy online' link, they're selling them for about half of what they list as the MSRP. Seems like that is still well below the average price for that much of power. Don't know anything about 'Pyle Audio' though... Any other thoughts?

It's probably more like 7/10 of that, but either way, I bet it sounds like ass. Really loud ass.

"I bet it sounds like ass. Really loud ass." :D

rotfl.........
that's gotta be one of the best lines i've seen on this forum. there should be a hall of fame for this kind of stuff.

p.s. the amp would suck, especially for it not even being a foot high. Peavey tries that trick too with the wattage, they put the power draw from an outlet on the back of their amps. almost convinced me that a little 2x10 was 250 watts.

Well come on, they say right on the description for the amplifier "High Quality Guitar Amplifier." What else do you need?

Seriously though, even at those peak powers, they may be overrating. They claim to push 800 watts peak through an 8" speaker. Granted, it's possible with high-end speakers, but at that price, it's either distorting like hell or it's just a massive exageration. I wouldn't chance it with these amps. Any company trying to deceive by stating "peak" wattage just isn't trustworthy. If you do get one though, tell me how it works out for you, ok?
