Is this an overkill?

I was thinking about getting an Ampeg SVT 350 watt amp and a 8x10 cab. Would this give me a more powerful aggressive sound when miced with maybe a D112? Would it be a good idea to also run the bass on another channel on a DI box too?

SVT/ 8x10 combos have been responsible for some pretty killer tones. Micing my bass cab with a beta 52 brings out more of the attack and string sound, which I mix with DI from a Pod. The mic/DI gives me a full bottom with enough clarity to cut through the mix. The more options you have, the better off you'll be.
