Hey guys, I'm sure this has been asked many times and I'm sorry.
So I'm an ameteur rapper and My Birthday is coming up this saturday and I wanna get a mic and mixer. I do home recording.
I was thinking of getting a shure pg 48 and something like a behringer mixer for like $50 or something off ebay.
Would this be good for home recording? I don't wanna spend a hell of a lot of money so if this mic is bad any other cheap suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers in advance.

For an entry level, that'll do fine. You may also want to look at the Rode M1. It's a little pricer than the PG-48 but IMHO delivers a much better performance.

Again, it's all up to your taste. Try a few different mics out - see how you go.

Hi there,

I think this mic is very good to start with

Audio Technica AT2020 and its 100$ only.

You can buy some different mics from Zzound. Thay have 30 day money back warranty. You can simpli return the mics you don't like.

Cheerz!!

In my opinion, most condensor mics will sound good as long as it is connected to a very good preamp. I use a Blue Baby Bottle mic with a Focusrite Voicemaster Preamp and the sound is incredible.

And by the way, the AKG 3000 is a very very common mic used for hip hop.

If you do rap, microphones aren't allowed. Mics are used for music only.

Lol. Funny, Rap sells and influences more than any other music today. I bet I'm worth more money than you just doing a mixtape spot... Than your worth on a full album.

Disrespect towards other music like the one you just made is probably the reason your mother doesnt love you anymore : (

Anyway... You don't need a mixer your software has a built in one im sure.. If your rapping you wont need more than one microphone at a time since the beat is just inserted into track one and you record on track 2 etc. Purchase a microphone and a cheap USB or firewire preamp before you waste your money on a mixer.

I think I just got dumber from reading this thread...

And no, that mic isn't good for home recording, only for professional recording specifically in the more mountainous regions of Utah.
