Is there something better out there?

OK.

I've tried

Samplitude. (Decent).
Vegas pro. (Not impressed.)
Cooledit pro. (I sort of like it.)
N-track (Anyone have luck with this. I looks pretty cool.)

I want a software package that has all the quality plugins that I need. No more of this sonic foundry crap.

Has anyone tried pro tools?
Or know of a good recording package?

It just seems like there would be one package out there
that has all the quality plugins you need and is easy to use.

Seen it around anywere?
 
I think you will need a combo to be impressed.....a multitracker for recording, but edit your tracks in SoundForge 5.0...its killer, but I cant afford it....

For multitrackers, look into Nuendo or Sonar....

I got solutions...peep!

First off, yes Nuendo it's new and made by Steinberg (creater of cubase etc), I've heard it can give pro-tools a run for it's money, and for PC :) ...but unless you got 2000$ I'd look somewhere else, it's also a sound to video/animation program, so this is another reason why it costs alot I assume. I was reading about it and apparently the new star-wars movie used this program for the audio to video, but don't get me wrong it is still an audio program that will do "everything!"

If your looking for an all in one, I'd say check out Propellerheads Reason, (500$ but street price is cheaper) It's a whole studio in one program, amazing. easy to use, can do everything you want, except I've heard it's weakest links are the sampleing area and the voacl recording although I'm not to sure about the last one, but if you choose this option they have a new program called rewire that lets you use certain other programs with it, so you could make great beats etc in reason, and then I'd just switch over to your multitracking program, cubase or whatever and record,master and all that...

If your just looking for really good programs, expensive, but check the newest version of cakewalk now called Sonar, cubase, wavelab ($500) this program is best for final touches like mastering, time stretch etc, but also I belive is an all around everything program, Rebirth (250)- excellent for sampleing and ideal to rewire with reason. Logic audio from Emagic ($800 most of these prices are listprice so check into them for instance this program is seen going for $500) A tough learning curve, will do everything I belive and the sheer power is amazing.

Now that I'm a "junior member" i suppose I should start answering questions :)

Oh yeah, nowadays from what I've heard and seen no one really uses one program, everything's got it's strengths and weaknesses even if some weaknesses are the price. All programs are good and have come along way, mayby theirs a newer version of aprogram that you already have that has had great improvementsince you last checked.
I've heard N-track will do the job well even though it's hecka cheap...

Those programs you have are all decent, especially vegas pro, could it be you just need more practice...
