Somebody may remember me asking about OH, asking for help to decide between MXL603 and Oktava´s MK012. Here in south america (I´m from Peru) you can´t find this brands, so I might buy mics through internet or wait until I travel to the US
Budget is very important that´s why I´m looking for of OH below $100 each. Ebay it´s risky for buying OH such Oktava´s and MF don´t sell them anymore (here´s what they answer me: We no longer carry the Oktava MK012 mics. Oktava is currently in the process of being phased out of the lines that we carry. ). I don´t like MXL 603 at all I think they are too bright for cymbals. I use AAX stage pack natural finish with brilliant effects (splash and mini china),.my room it´s not isolated and well treated for recording. That´s what it is, and I have to deal with it. :(
Maybe there are some LD options I could check or maybe you can convince me that those 603 are really good and I can manage it´s brightness with EQ.

Any advice is welcome.

I'd still get a pair of MC-012's for drum overheads.

MF dosnt sell them, but guitar center is selling them out. You should call GC, (I think they have a 800 #) and ask them if they still have any in stock before you make your journey to the us. Or maybe send some money to someone you trust here, let them buy them, and have them ship them to you.

I never thought about that option. Yeah I got a friend in FL who can buy those puppies for me. Thanx Jblount

Are you serious?? $99 a pair!!!!.
I know that you gotta tell the salesperson. I only have $100 bucks and I want a pair of Oktava´s MK012. If you´re lucky you will walk out of the store with a great deal. Need to explain this to my friend, so he could negotiate.

That is usually how I get all my gear. I am cheap, so I guess about how much it is worth to me ahead of time, and I dont go over that. If you are cunning and catch them just right, you can get just about anything for your price.

GC is phasing out Oktava? Why would they bother introducing the "factory-matched" pairs of MC012s then? Makes no sense.

Their not "matched pairs" just a pair of them for 99. Big difference. And yes they are phasing out some of the models. It is a good time to grab them quick.

Wrong, Jblount. They're offering alledgedly "factory matched" pairs at a pricw point quite a bit higher than the off the rack price. I just don't know if it's a lingerie factory.-Richie
