just without keys? I'm looking for a sampler/sequencer, but dont have a lot of $ to spend right now.. and I've been reading too many different opinions on the MPC's, which is 'better' / more logical to buy.. so to minimize the buying and re-selling process, I think it'd just be wise for me to wait until I have enough to get the 4000 (if it turns out to be a winner) instead of experimenting with the 2 or 3 only to want to get the 4 later on.... and in the meantime cop an ASR-X, which I've not only been reading many good things about, but is also much cheaper than a MPC2xl. Any opinions on this piece?

-the asr-x is a piece of shit, i don't think Ensoniq actually built that unit, i think creative had already bought them out by then

-no they are not the same, i prefer having a full keyboard anyway

-you stated that you didn't have much money, so why are you talking about the mpc4000?

-a used ASR-10 is very outdated nowadays, but you can still make good use of it...niggaz i know still swear by it

-u can get one for about $300-$500 used on eBay etc...

-if u jus trying to get into music or something...i would buy used, you can come up on a good deal if u shop around and shop wisely...then once you graduate to the next level then you can alwayz unload stuff you no longer want on eBay

-i know a cat that spent 2 grand on a Triton because people were saying "u need that for rap producing...etc" played wit it for a month or so and it' been sitting there collecting dust ever since and probably gonna end up on the auction block

-shit, if u one of them MPC heads, shit you may be able to come up on a 2000 at a real good price

aight.. in what ways other than the keys are they different? I already have a keyboard, so spending a few extra bucks JUST for keys would be pointless..

about the MPC... I said I think it'd just be wise for me to wait until I have enough to get the 4000, instead of spending a G on a 2xl, or 2G's on a 3000.. might as well hold off until I have $3000 for the 4000, if it turns out to be as good as it sounds.. making due either with a ASR-x if I were to get one, or sitting down figuring out Acid and/or Reason.

I'm sellin my MPC 3000 for $1,600 wit zip 100 drive and it is well worth the money. I am getting the MPC 4000 and dats da reason I'm sellin my 3000. I believe da ASR-X is a o.k. piece but not as good as da ASR-10. People like Kanye West use the ASR-10 and MPC 2000 so really to each his own. I personally hate da MPC 2000 and da ASR-10 I really have nothing bad ta say about it, but K.W. is makin $30,000 plus a track, so I guess wha I'm tryin ta say is get wha works for u and have fun makin music. I also have a Triton for sale only because I bought so much gear I'm loosin my true way of how I make music. I will only need da MPC 4000 and a keyboard trigger and I'll be happy.

ALSO GEAR FOR SALE:

Mackie d8b $6,000-$6,500

Mackie HDR $2,500-$3,000

Korg Triton wit scsi option and zip 100 drive and 48 megs ram $1,700-$1,800

Roland JV-2080 wit hip hop and sessions card $700-$800

Proteus 2000 $450-$550

MPC 3000 wit smpte and zip 100 drive $1,600-$1,800

The best thing for you to do is to buy the "ROLAND MV-8000". It's cheaper and proven to be better than the "AKAI MPC-4000", the 4000 is only expensive because everyone uses AKAI but I found that "ROLAND" gear tends to be cheaper and in most cases does more than the "AKAI" line of equipment. So you should really consider looking at "ROLAND" line of products. www.rolandus.com

so what is the difference between the x and 10 besides lack of keys?nothing?
