I was thinking of purchasing either the US-122 or the US-224 and i was curious if the US-224 was worth the extra $100. If anyone who owns either of these products would like to provide some insight if would be greatly appreciated. Also does the US-122 allow for two-track simultaneous recording like a bass and guitar recording at the same time?

Hey, Zona.

I used the US122 to record the song in my signature line. I really like it. If I were you, I'd use the extra $100 to buy Cakewalk's Home Studio. The US122 supports "...two-track simultaneous recording like a bass and guitar recording at the same time..", but the bundled Cubasis does not. I believe the Home Studio software will allow you to do that.

Thank You

Thanks much for your help, I will look into that software. One of the reasons I was looking at the US-224 was the physical faders wich I would find a little more intuitive than doing it on the computer, but I'm not sure how valuable this would be. Thanks again!

Hello,

I do find the faders very helpful, and I also like having a convenient record / play / pause button that requires no mouse clicks.

In the UK I only had to pay about £20 more for the 224 than the 122. If they are charging you $100 more in the places you are looking, then try elsewhere.

I had my doubts at some points when I had semi compatible software, but I am getting on very nicely with my 224 right now. :)

The cut down Cubasis that comes with it is really no more than a demo or intro software. I use n-track now, and can not vouch for the US 224's control interface working in anything else except Reason 2.0.

If you want to know anything in particular about the 224 then see if I can help. I am new to it, but that might be a good place to answer questions to a potential new user from.

Cheers :)

I have the 428 there is nothing like mixing a song using the faders I can never go back to using the mouse and keyboard to mix and I use Nuendo with it so it is compatible with it

Thanks

I think I have made up my mind now, I am going to get the 224, mainly b/c I found it on ebay for <$200. Thanks again for all of your help.

Now Another Question

Now that I've got my 224, what would be the best software to get for it, remember I'm just a high school student, nothing that's gonna break the bank. I've heard Cakewalk (thanks apl) and N-Tracks are good, anyone have a thought on either?

I have nuendo 2 but it can break the bank my best advice to is go with either N-Track (I hear it's very cheap but good haven't used it myself costs around $40) or get Cool Edit (started on it perfect beginner program but it costs around $200)

Will they work with the 224?

Do you know if those programs are compatable with the 224 or US-428?

Well I know that nuendo is compatible with the 428 because that is what I use with it but I don't know about N-Track

I am getting along very nicely with N-track and the 224.

I tried versions of Cakewalk, Vegas Audio, Cubase and Cubasis... and am nowhere near qualified enough to say n-track is better than any of those, but I certainly like it better. :)

Thanks, when I get my unit (it hasn't been shipped yet) I'll download the trial of n-tracks. Thanks for your help.
