Is Sonar (Producer) normally $500?

I almost posted this in the newb section, mainly because I know how "newb" this question sounds. But yesterday I was at Sam Ash and noticed Sonar 3 producer edition was just $500, and after looking at a few sites they all have it on sale for $500. I thought I had been seeing it previously for over $700, but now I'm thinking maybe I was only paying attention to the suggested retail price from the official site.

So is this really on sale, or can I wait and still get it at the same price? I'd really prefer to wait until I have a pair of studio monitors, and a sound card at least. I'd also like to download some demos of other sequencers, just to get an idea of what my newb ass is getting myself into.

So my logical side is saying wait, but my cheap ass side is saying don't miss out on a deal ;)

I got it for $429. Got Musicians Friend to match a sale price at 8th street or bayview or somewhere. I forget where it was.

Yes, I guess this is normal. I mean, SRP normaly slightly higher than street price. We also know the rule about lowest advertising price shown on ad. I've ever buought mic (listed $169) for $130. So I guess you better get to the store (or call them) and ask for exact price+shipping.

I agree with your logical side. Software can wait, but not monitors & soundcard. Meanwhile, try the demo and get familiar with it :)

thanks to one awsome memeber, i just received my sonar today. I got one with an academic license for 450 canadian, you can do the math = US, but my guess is tahts around 300 bucks US. studica.com is the best. I will soon be buying an M-audio omni stuio and near field monitors from them as well

I hope that people on these forums aren't that stupid that they go for that...

Is nobody else incredibly intrigued by studica.com. M-audio products at an academic discount?! Seems pretty good to me.

good stuff eh scooter?
I was a bit sketched out at first but when i got my package in ne piece i knew i found something good. yup a new midi controller, sound card and monitors are in the near future for this student.

Typically around 500, but just looking around I found this. Sonar 3 Producer for $350 USD.

where on earth did you find that?? was it, perhaps about 3 posts up or so? haha just messin with ye. been mentioned though.

on another note of studica's greatness, i just bought a 61 note M-audio evolution MIDI keyboard from them. can't wait till that gets here.

with a drop from 500 for sonar producer....i went looking for the delta 1010lt....they are only cheaper by 2 bucks and some change :( however the sonar deal looks good though

Haha! Sorry about that. I wasn't looking at that. Thanks man. :D

haha no worries, i was just being an ass. Some people 'round here have some atitude problems when their remarks are simply unnecessary. Seriously though, student discounts rule.
