is Performer version 1.6 still "good" for midi sequencing?

Hi!

I use an old version of Performer on a MAC 7500 and it seems to work fine for what I need, but if I get something more current do you think I might be blown away?

It does get quiet in here sometimes...

Anyway, I have not had much experience with Performer but MIDI sequencing is not hugely taxing for a computer, and it's been a pretty mature technology for many years, so I would think whatyou describe would be fine for MIDI sequencing needs.

It's digital audio that kicks a computer's virtual ass and requires the latest and greatest hardware and software...

If you do any analog recording with your MIDI stuff you might indeed be amazed by all that you can do in one application (like Digital Performer on a G4, or SONAR on a screaming PC) these days.
 
Your question is pretty much like is Word 2000 better than Word 97?

Of course there are new features, code optimizations and what not. But word 97 will still write letters and any sequencer will record and send midi data.

Performer doesnt seem to be used much around here so that is probably why there are any specific responses. Check out their web site and some of the other newer programs and if you like what you see go for it.

Sonar is probably number 1 with Logic bringing up the rear. I have Logic and wouldnt recomend it as easy to use. I liked the old Cakewalk so I imagine Sonar is the same or better. But that is on the PC as most people here seem to be using PC's.

On mac I have heard great things about Performer and better things about Logic. If you like Performer check out their website and see if it looks like it's worth the extra money. You probably wont be dissapointed.
