-I think n-track is cheaper(I think). So which one is the better deal?

--Are these any good? Would Cubase be the way to go? What makes Cubase, Calkewalk Pro 9, Digi 001 better then the cheaper softwares?

---Has anyone has been to http://www.tonos.com ? If you have did you download the 8-track recorder? If so, was it good; is it better than n-track or cool edit?

I use both Cool Edit Pro and N-Track. It's hard to say one is better than the other, I tend to go to Cool Edit first, though. If you like to have alot of control over the tracks, such as eq, I think N-Track is easier. It also uses non-destructive editing, which makes it versatile, but takes up more space on your hard drive.

I have Cubase VST/32. It is MUCH more expensive than either of the above programs, and IMHO, much harder to use. Having done digital recording for less than a year, I find it hard to understand and use to its fullest potential. I think Cakewalk still appeals most for those using MIDI, which I don't. I've used it (Pro 9) and It's ok, but not for me.

Never tried Digi001 (i thought that was hardware) or the tonos thing.

I like SoundForge but it too is more expensive. I also dig Cakewalk but I guess it depends of what you need.
