Is my laptop powerful enough or will I have problems

Okay, I'm planning out my home recording setup and I want to make sure I dont need to do any upgrades to my pc before I spend money of recording hardware only to find my pc isnt powerful enough.

I plan on using my laptop with 1.7ghz pentium-M and 1 gb of ram. I would think that those specs are more than anything I need. However, the hard drive is only a 5400 rpm model which brings up my major concern. Is this a problem?
I've read that a faster hard drive is recommended but what is the reason for this? will a slower rpm hard drive cause latency or anything like that?

Your computer setup should be more than enough. Latency is almost all of the time caused by the drivers. Get the ASIO drivers and you should be latency free.

Its going to depend on your software. If it needs a 2.8ghz processor to run, I can't imagine you being able to run it. Check the spec's on the software the you intend on using.
