Is it possible to date Gibson Humbuckers?

I have a pair of Gibson Humbuckers that I purchase new sometime around 1973-75. Several years ago I had a shop install them into a old beater SG that I own. The guitar is now barely playable for various reasons and I'm planning on stripping the guitar of all it's parts and using the pickups for another project.

While I have them out of the guitar I was wondering if there are any markings or design characteristics I should look for in able to pinpoint the manufacture date? These originally had gold Gibson covers but I no longer have those. From what I can tell (while they are still in the guitar) is that they are black on black and appear to have black electrical tape covering the windings.

If you bought it in 1973-74, they are probably from about that time. You are not going to be able to pinpoint it any closer than that.

Look at The Les Paul Guitar by Bacon & Day. They provide some general guides to dating pickups. Don't expect much: Gibson themselves told me my LP (with the SN I supplied) was made "between 1968 and 1975".
