Hello People

Many years ago I was a member of a part-time band and we recorded a CD. The songs are a little outdated nowadays but I was wondering if it's possible that anyone would be interested in perhaps doing a remix of one (or more) of the songs using more modern techniques. I don't really have any "prizes" or "rewards" to give for anyone who is interested, apart from the satisfaction of having done it.

If you want to have a listen to what the songs sound like, head over to http://www.diddyweb.com/frogpond/html/sounds.asp and listen to any of the songs under the album title "That's a Good Question". I have wave files of the original master tracks in 48Khz, 24-bit format taken directly from the master tapes so can provide the original recordings without a problem.

If anyone is interested, drop me a line and I'll give you the direct download link.

Thanks in advance.

David

I can't play your files on the streamer because your site tells me I need to add a plug in. I assume it's Quicktime & I loath that program as it stuffs up all the other audio on my PC. This happens to quite a few PCs I've heard (depending on what's already installed etc).
Sad to say, I don't know you so I shan't download a file, for the obvious hygiene reasons, yet.
Sorry!

Nope, not Quicktime.. I hate it myself... :)

It should be just the bog-standard Windows Media Player, nothing complicated...

Nothing dangerous in the source code as far as i can tell..
<script type="text/javascript">
AC_AX_RunContent( 'id','MediaPlayer1','width','350','height','43','classid','clsid:22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95','codebase','http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=6,0,02,902','standby','Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components...','type','application/x-oleobject','pluginspage','http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/MediaPlayer/','src','../songs/Wild_Blue_Ocean.mp3','autostart','true','filename','../songs/Wild_Blue_Ocean.mp3','animationatstart','true','transparentatstart','true','showcontrols','true','uimode','none','playcount','1' ); //end AC code
</script><noscript><object id="MediaPlayer1" width="350" height="43" classid="clsid:22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95" codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=6,0,02,902" standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject">
<param name="FileName" value="../songs/Wild_Blue_Ocean.mp3">
<param name="animationatStart" value="true">
<param name="transparentatStart" value="true">
<param name="autoStart" value="true">
<param name="showControls" value="true">
<param name="uiMode" value="none">
<param name="PlayCount" value="1">
<embed type="application/x-mplayer2" pluginspage = "http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/MediaPlayer/" src="../songs/Wild_Blue_Ocean.mp3" width="350" height="43" autostart=true>
</embed> </object></noscript>

If you want, I can send you the mp3 file directly or you can download from the frogpond site.. 100% safe, honest! :D

I would love to remix "Starts Of The Story"... really like that song.

So if you give me a link i'll make a mix during the week.

I will also need the tempo.

Regards.

Sorry!

They showed as direct mp3 downloads on my system.

I just noticed Ray's hygeine comment.

I use a program called Sandboxie. It runs my web browser in a sandbox where it can't make changes to my hard drive. It means I'm usually not to worried about random files! :D

I listened to two songs. Hey Girl and Heartbreaker. Both songs definitely have a very distinct and pleasant, almost reminiscent feel to them. They sound incredibly unique! I almost don't wanna touch em', just because the sound they have captured is wonderful.

One thing: The mp3 streaming link sounds like it's a horribly compressed mp3. The high end of the cymbals / hats is destroyed.

I love the sound, personally. I wouldn't change any of it.

Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, the mp3's were made a while ago when I didn't have the software/equipment to do them better. I will have to think about reworking them now I can do it, but there's a lot of files so it'll take some time.

I think what I'm looking for isn't really a "remix" of the original track as such, but for someone to take the song apart and rework it in a different way, give it a different feel, from a different perspective - a mashup maybe.. I dunno... I just think the songs have some potential if they were done in a different way. The ideas are ok, but the execution leaves a little to be desired. They were done in 1991 and none of us in the band knew what the hell we were doing really! :)

Anyway, thanks for listening and thanks for the comments.

David
