I don't know if this is the appropriate place, but I started an IRC channel out of boredom hoping maybe, just maybe, people would use it to talk about home recording related stuff and just general community driven "getting to know you-we have so much in common etc etc) type of stuff.
If you are already familiar with IRC then join here
If you aren't familiar and use firefox then install Chatzilla or if you hate firefox install MIRC then click the above link to join the channel. I will be looking for other people to moderate the channel based on participation and whatnot. If you still need help with IRC feel free to ask. I'm no expert but I get around.
