Interface for Guitar Rig use

I've recently decided to start trying some solo gigs with stuff I've written. I'll be playing acoustic guitar and singing. I've been looking into getting a nice looper pedal, like the Boss RC-50 or something, but that's far more than I would like to spend. So, I started looking into what I could rig up with stuff I already have, and here's what I've decided.

I have Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2, but no Rig Kontrol (the footboard that comes with it). GR comes with a nice looping utility, among many other things, that would be perfect.

Guitar Rig is MIDI controllable from an external source. I have a Behringer BFC1010 MIDI foot controller that I could program to it. I would need to interface that into my laptop.

Now...here's the part where I need advice. I definitely don't want to use my laptop's built-in audio. My roommate has a Tascam US122 USB interface with MIDI capabilities. I've read that the latency on the unit is not desirable though. My question: has anyone used this in a similar configuration to what I'm looking for? This would be the setup:

Guitar into the US122. MIDI foot controller into the MIDI In of the US122. US122 USB into my laptop, running through Guitar Rig 2. Output of the US122 into the PA system.

Would this work out alright? Or, would it be better for me to get say a Behringer FCA202 Firewire interface for the audio, and a cheap USB Midi interface? (which I have one)

Any thoughts on this?

I've got a thought on this.

This question smell bad.

In fact, it reeks of piracy.

We don't help software theives here.

Go back to the pirate board where you downloaded the Guitar Rig software but couldn't find a way to get that bulky hardware controller to squeeze thru your internet connection and ask them for the midi template that will allow you to use your Behringer foot controller with Guitar Rig.

And please don't bother us with questions like this again.

I'm going to attempt to not sound defensive. I understand your accusation of piracy, but let me assure you that's not the case. I auctioned off my Rig Kontrol because I did not need it. I enjoy using Guitar Rig as a recording plugin. And now I would like to use the Behringer footboard.

But setting up the Behringer was not my question. My question was about audio/Midi interfaces for my laptop.

I had you pegged as a software pirate but now it seems like you've just got a case of seller's remorse.

What did whoever bought your Rig Kontrol intend to use it with?

The NRPN messages that sends out are proprietary Native Instruments codes. Unless you sold it to someone who HAD bootlegged the software I'd think you'd have a hard time finding a buyer...

I wouldn't exactly call it seller's remorse. From what I gather from other users, the Kontrol can be a bit bothersome. Users seem to have much more success (as well as set-up headaches...but I'm okay with that) with the FCB1010. I can't really comment as I really didn't use the Kontrol.

As for the buyer, he/she claimed they opted for the software upgrade w/o the Kontrol, and then desired it later. Whether that was valid or not, I don't know. Call me greedy, but I really didn't care to police piracy laws...I just wanted some cash

Anyway...I fear the topic has been lost...is there anyone who can provide an answer to the interface question?

Sorry to state the obvious here, why not just borrow your roomate's US122 and try it. It would probably take less time.........
