A couple of years ago we put out a song called "Orphan Train". Apparently a grade school teacher in Nebraska made a video using our song to educate his students about this little known slice of American History. Kind of interesting, and pretty well done.

Nice work, nice vox, they capture the lyrics. Overall great job. Enjoyed it.

Thanks fellas. When I listen to the song now, i cringe at how bad it's mixed. It's actually the video that I thought made it worth watching. The photos are gripping to me. Hard to imagine what it was really like to have been there.

Damn this is good. Ha I found the opposite. I couldn't keep my focus on the vid because the singing is so good.

what bugs you about the mix?

The mix sounds muddy to be. Bass is poorly defined and seems to get lost at times. Now that I have a better mixing room, I may decide at some point to re-mix this just for kicks.

I remember listening to the song & being impressed. the vid isn't bad - though the text & images move on & off too quickly to be digested by kids I think. We have had simialr events in Australia - boatloads of children brought down under having been told their parents were dead etc (usually false) & placed in church & state institutions that are only now owning up to the physical, emotional & sexual abuse they meted out.
Children are so often seen as comodities ,in developed countries, that it beggars belief.
The song is wonderfully executed & recorded.

ray - I took my grand kids down to hear this. My 5 year old responded to the line "who's looking out for you" by saying "no body"

gz - well FWIW the bass fits the mood in my room.

I just posted a little bit about 'mastering, and touched on these things 'objectivity, and perspective.
Here you are neck deep in micro mode.
Here am I having never heard it before, struck by the stark impact of something I was not aware of, and a soundtrack that hits square home.
Yes. Lost at times.
I can only imagine how they must have felt at times.

Your point is well taken. My intent was that the video be the focus, not the sound track. The song is old and has been posted here a while back. The video adds a visual dimension to the story.

I really enjoy your stuff, GZ. I still listen to Project 4's CD from time to time, which I bought awhile back. Really good stuff, man. Thanks for sharing, and congratulations!

I remember this song from before and I like it a lot. The vid adds another dimension and completes the story started by the song. It's a well-kept secret, the orphan train. Never heard of it until your song.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Oh my God. This was amazing.
I was away so often and it doesn't surprises me that I’m missing so much from this board.
Very good song, sounding just perfectly.

This reminds me on my flight Zagreb-Copenhagen back in 1996. The flight was a little delayed and then I saw a hundreds of orphans lined up outside the plain.
They fathers were killed in Srebrenica Massacre (Bosnia War) and mothers were missing. Twins, brothers and sister were having seats in front of me.
They were around 8 years old. The boy had same name like mine and the girl had a similar name.
I gave them my phone number and my address. I was hoping to get some news from them but I understand they had a lot of on their mind.
I guess they're a grown up Danish citizens today.
