Looks like a very nice desk. I'm not sure about the price for it though. Is it worth that much?

I don't know why, but I've always wanted one of these from Studer.

Cheers! :)

Yeah, same here, Jeff. Always wanted one of these from Studer too but they cost an arm and a leg for sure.

Scary bit of description: "..and an additional $25 in supplies for the UPS store to box it correctly". Yup, leave it to the UPS "professionals" to expertly box it.:drunk::laughings:

Have to admit, the guy who sold me the Otari 8-track just took it to UPS and paid them to pack and ship it and they did an excellent job and it arrived unharmed.

Cheers,

Otto

If it's done by the UPS store, if it does show up damaged at least they can't deny the claim for insufficient packing (lord knows what else they'd come up with...) :spank:

But yeah...I had a couple toms shipped to me in a box...and by that, I mean the guy just put the toms in a box...no padding or anything. His excuse was that he was packing the kit up in a hurry, as if this would make me feel better LOL! At least it was a good enough deal that buying a new hoop wasn't a problem...

Sorry but subcontracting the UPS store to pack your items is like playing Russian roulette. It's also a lazy way for sellers to sell items and lay blame elsewhere if something arrives damaged. If you want something done right, it's best done by yourself and not have it done by someone at a packing place which, IMO, is mostly run by incompetents. There are exceptions, granted but I wouldn't risk it. If I buy something which needs to be shipped, I always make sure the entire transaction, from the buying to the packing and shipping is done by my seller to my specifications or I don't buy.

I always do my packing for stuff I sell/ship...and I tend to always over-pack because I've seen how the parcel carriers can mistreat stuff...especially if it's too heavy for them to cleanly lift it.
That said...there are a lot of incompetent people (or they just don't care or want to waste their time), so they think the UPS store will do a better job, which isn't always the case...but like it was pointed out, I think they use the UPS store mainly for the insurance reasons.
I've taken packages to the UPS store and they'll sometimes get picky about the type of box or tape I used, but I tell them, not to worry, it's packed real good, though I know if they feel the packing looks inferior, they can refuse to insure it for you.
So...they bait you by offering their own packing with full coverage if anything happens.

The worst packing I ever saw was when I purchased a 75lb R-to-R deck from a music store and when it arrived via FedEx. the deck was inside a thin, single layer cardboard box with NO foam/wrap or ANYTHING!
Mind you, the deck was all busted up and it's front face completely sheared off...nothing was there. In the box were some of the broken pieces.
I came to the conclusion that it was probably poorly packed by the music store to begin with, and then FedEx must have dropped it or something, and then just scooped it up and put in a fresh box and delivered it.

The music store gave me a full refund and I shipped the mess back to them...but boy was I pissed, since I really wanted that deck!

My idea of well packed is so you can roll it down a flight of stairs and nothing will happen to it. :D

I bought an Eminence 15" speaker from Zzounds and they put it in a box with absolutely no packing.

The box was large and the speaker was free to bounce around inside. The speaker arrived destroyed - the frame badly bent. They replaced it needless to say.

That was the one time Zzounds screwed up on me, overall they've been fine.
