I had enough with missing cable or broken cables. I lost my bag full of cables last night and was about to purchase new ones for my guitar and pedals but the price made me decide to make them myself this time. I know that I paid premium for my cables in the past thinking it will make a big difference. I'm still not so sure about this.

Anyway, even though it may be subjective but can you recommend a good brand of cable and connectors? Some sites have cables in 250' to 500' that can be purchased for $70+ but I'm not sure about the quality.

Talk to "Butch" at Bayou Cables. The best cables I've ever found are custom made by him. And they are outstanding quality at a very reasonable price. He has a web site. Check it out!

Neutrik connectors are pretty much the standard, and it's hard to go wrong with Mogami or Canare. Many cable snobs swear by Canare.-Richie

I use Mogami. I like it its a good brand but some like other brands.
As that link stated:

Good shield coverage – to block noise from EMI.
Physically rugged – because they typically take a lot of abuse.

Mogami is all that and then some.

I like Neutrik plugs as well. I stay away from Switchcraft just because I broke a few in years past. That and Neutriks are just pretty  .......

Some folks say it makes a diference how the cable is made and I agree.
Otherwise, Keep the iron hot and tin your leads thats all I can say.

+1 for Bayou. Top stuff. Between him and the folks at audiopile.net for patch snakes, I may never buy from anyone else for a long time.

Surely you didn't mean to say that you are looking at 500 foot guitar cables... ;^)
