Hi all,

I dint have a keyboard, but I was wondering what is the best software to use to create my own bass riffs for simple songs. Can I then inport it into Acid Pro?

Thanks

There is no "best." You need some recording software and the hardware to get a signal from the bass to line level and into a soundcard input. The best bet is to read reviews of all of them, then try demos of the ones you think sound like they might be your cup of tea...

Any recording package will export or save WAV files, which is all you need in order to use them in ACID.

By the way, if you already have ACID Pro, you might have all you need. You can record quite well into ACID Pro, and cut up and edit any parts of what you record in Sound Forge XP (which is bundled with ACID Pro)... You can also record mono or stereo WAVs straight into Sound Forge XP.

Thanks for the reply,

My question is that because I don't have a bass or a midi keyboard, I want to use my computer mouse and the internal keyboard in Sound Forge to record the sound I make when I hit the keys with my mouse. This way, I hope to make the basic bass riffs I need. Is this possible, and if so, how do I record it so I can export the loop into Acid Pro?

Sorry if this sounds silly, but it's all I've got to work with at the moment.

Yes, it's possible. Any MIDI sequencer I know of has some way of manually entering notes. It's tedious, but it can be done.
ALso, once you have the MIDI part entered, any audio/MIDI recording application that I know of has a means of recording the output of the MIDI track to audio, either directly inside the computer through a sound card's hardware, or by routing the audio outputs of an external synth/sampler into the soundcard's audio inputs and recording them while you play the sequence.

Once it's a WAV file you can chop it up however you want and use the bits in ACID. Or if you use SONAR, you can do it without ACID.
