insert blank space

Hey there!

I am recording some songs in n-track 3.0.5 and I am having a little problem.
I recorded a song and now I would like to insert a introduction in that beggining. Then, I would like to insert a blank space before the recorded matter. There is any way to do that?

By the way: Several times when I am recording my songs, n-track experiences an internal error and closes itself. Is it "normal"? (I use Windows XP).

Cheers!

If you want to insert a 2-measure intro, just turn on the grid and move your existing tracks over 2 measures. Any space before the start of your track is just silence....

Hi, Tim,

Your idea is pretty good, but I have a lot of track parts that do not starts exactly at a snap point, so, if I displace my tracks using grid as reference point, my song will be a kind of... jagged!
Well, by the way, I solve my problem doing the next: I inserted 30 seconds in the song beggining, just double clicking in every part and adding 30 seconds to its time. It worked, but it generated to me a lot of hard work.
I stayed thinking if there is an automatic way to to that, just like a command that inserts, for instances, 30 seconds of silence before all tracks. I guess it´s a elementar action, and I can´t imagine why the n-track programmers did not put this facility in the program.
Another thing that I feel missing in the program is the hability to select several parts and drag them at the same time.
Finally, I will ask you: do your n-track crashs all the time?

Cheers!

Hold down the Control key and drag across the tracks (just like selecting multiple elements in a drawing program) and you can select all or as many as you want. Then you can drag them together.

No. N-Track is VERY stable on my system, but it is a pure Intel chipset with Win98SE and a bland ATI video card (simple leads to success, whiz-bang leads to crashes).

You need to look around the web for guides on tweaking your system for audio (prorec.com , tascam.com and others have them... if I remember right there are sites specifically devoted to tweaking XP). Also make sure that you have updated all your drivers and motherboard BIOS fixes.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tim

Yes, you helped very much.
Your trick about select several parts using control key was very usefull. Thank you. It´s an easy way to put a blank space in the song beggining: it´s just select all and drag them towards.
Thank you!

About the program stability, I think it´s funny because I used a AMD K7 800 Mhz assembled in a Asus K7M mb (Via chipset) and running over Win98 SE. Then my system burned (literally, burned) and I assembled a new one a couple of weeks ago: this time an AMD Athlon XP 1600+ in a Asus A7A mb (Ali chipset) running over Win XP. The same instability I noticed in W98 and the ancient system I am perceiving in the new system. Strange thing, because the overall behavior of my nem machine is 1000% better than the other. Now, my machine do not crashes or freezes any program but n-track. I guess n-track hates AMD, don´t you agree????

Well, but I can use that, at least if I don´t forget to save my song every new part I record or important move I do!

Cheers!
