Input Monitoring with Edirol interface?

Anyone know how to eliminate the echo when using input monitoring with the Edirol FA-101 interface? I read the SONAR help file but have yet to find the "Line-in" column that I need to mute in order to eliminate the unprocessed signal.

This is a latency issue. You need to lower your latency to 5ms or less.

First, make sure you are using WDM or ASIO drivers. If WDM, you can lower the latency in Options > Audio.

If ASIO, you need to lower it in the sound card's control panel.

Depending on your hardware setup, lower latency settings could create other problems for you - e.g., stuttering, dropouts, etc.

When I input monitor,I mute the input on my soundcards software panel,this way I only hear the effected signal rather than a mix of the direct signal and the effected signal.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, the echo would become "not audible" after reducing the latency. But I was wondering if there's a way to completely eliminate the unprocessed signal. I got a reply from a Roland System tech and learned how to fix the problem. I'll explain it here in case someone has the same question in the future.

By adjusting the "Direct Monitor" knob in the front panel of the Edirol FA-101 unit, one can adjust how much of the unprocessed input signal would get outputted by the unit. By turning the knob towards Out 1/2 (anti-clockwise), the unprocessed signal would be reduced. When it's turned all the way to the left, only the processed signal would be outputted. That way, one can use real-time effects without hearing an echo.
