Input mic volume louder than output?!

I'll try and keep this as short as possible.

I'm using the looper within ableton,when I record through the mic the loop played back is quieter. I have all the metres turned up but nothing changes.

My equipment is a kaoss pad 3,m-audio 2x2M and a subzero SZ-MIX04.

I have the mic plugged into the kp3 as I want to alter my voice for beatboxing. Am I missing something obvious,maybe the way my cables are setup?

I just looked at pictures of it and I don't see a mic input. Microphones put out a very low level signal, which requires a preamp. You need a mic preamp. there is one in the mixer, but you would have to figure out a way to route the mic signal out of it and into the KP3. A bigger mixer would have aux sends for this purpose, but that mixer seems to be very minimalist.
 
Should have done my research,knew that mixer was basic but didn't think about the sends,more expense!
