A flock of large, black birds is called a MURDER of crows.
I wonder what a flock of buzzards is called?
A kettle !
A flock of large, black birds is called a MURDER of crows.
I wonder what a flock of buzzards is called?
A flock of large, black birds is called a cloud of blackbirds.
Only if they are actually crows.
Actually: I'm going to go all Cliff Clavin on you again because I happen to know this one.
A gathering of crows is indeed known as a "Murder" of crows and for good reason.
You see it's no accident that you cannot tell one crow from another.
Any crow which differs in any way from the rest, will in fact, eventually be ganged up on and murdered by the other crows.
You will on occasion see albino crows and the odd one with a single white feather.
Sooner or later, the group will destroy them.
Hence the name.
That's why a raven can never sneak into a gathering of crows. You see, the feathers on the trailing edge of the wing are called pinion feathers. And ravens have one more than crows do. So knowing the difference between a raven and a crow is just a matter of a pinion.
So what do you call a group of murderers?
Crows???
Subscribed to this thread, waiting on a list.
otherwise you will have a chaotic feeding frenzy and a bunch of folks who will end up feeling like they got the shaft.
I read fours pages of crap about crows only to find out there's no list. I already feel like I got the shaft!
