Hello there.

I have an EMU 0404 PCI sound card that has two 1/4" ins and two 1/4" outs. I run the outs to a channel on my four channel mixer. It might even be this mixer shown on someone else's photobucket: https://img693.imageshack.us/i/behringer802.jpg/ . Anyways, I have connected my monitors to the main outs, and my headphones to the headphone jack. The main mix level turns my monitor volume up and down, but my headphone volume only works when the main mix volume is up. If I turn it down, I lose my headphone volume, which makes it hard to isolate volumes strictly to headphones... does anyone have any solutions to this? I'd be ecstatic to not have to turn off my monitors every time I wanna do headphone-only recording. :)

28 views and no love? There's gotta be a way to do this, no? Do I need a better mixer? I'm just looking for what others do and maybe if there's an affordable solution so I can record vocals in my bedroom while using headphones and turning down the monitors as not to catch noise over the mic...

With the set up you have it looks like you'll need to turn off the monitors to use the cans.
So to answer your 2nd post ya maybe get an other mixer. Upgrade to something other than behringer besure to have some aux sends and test drive what ever your thinking of purchasing in the store to be sure that it does everything that you want it to do.

What I did was use an old Sony receiver I got for free just to run my headphones, that way it's independent.

Cool, I will check into other mixer options. Thanks!
