Incredibly Stupid Question

Can't believe I'm asking this...

To hook up passive monitors, do I need to use speaker cable (with the 1/4" jack...not the home stereo stuff) or just a balanced 1/4"? Or balanced speaker cables? Or speaking cable balancing passer;asldkfjas;dflkj;????? Whatever. Feel free to tee off on me here.

I assume you mean to hook them up to your amp. Well you need speaker cable that is at least 16awg for a few hundred watts of power and a few feet (10' or so) 12awg would be good but not really needed.
