Important! Mic mounts or stands?

I sit on you.
I've reached a rather difficult question. So I'm micing my drumset...what is the best way to mic my snare, toms, etc. By means of a shockmount clip that is attached to drum itself, or use a regular boom mic stand? I'm pretty sure a mic cliped into my snare, for instance, will save me a lot of room. Only thing I'm worried about is vibrations, etc. In the event I decide on shockmounts, which ones would you recommend? I've been looking at the Shure a56d's OR what about those ON-STAGE stands' DM50? Please, let me know so I can make beautiful music and such!

I too like stands. I actually don't think I've ever used clips... um... Instead of clipping to a drum, would it be possible to clip a mic off an adjacent cymbal stand or something (not sure what kind of reach those clips have) to cut out some of that vibration factor? Would that even make a difference? Again, I don't know.
