Hi,

I used to work in cakewalk before, just switched to Cubase. My question is this: when I import a midi file in Cubase I only get 1 track with all the instruments. When I do the same (did the same) in Cakewalk I get a different track for each instrument. What am I doing wrong?

THanks,
Bas

Oh, wow! thanks man.

One more question, I have one MIDI file that I downloaded from internet, it sounds ok when I play it in Media player, but when I import it in Cubase, the timing is wrong, very weird. The tempo is ok, but the note onsets seem strange, too late, not in the groove.

Any idea what this could be?

Thanks
Bas

Latency perhaps. Are you using several different soft-synths. Do they all do it or just certain tracks. Make sure you have Plugin-Delay Compensation enabled. If you are using files that are loaded with an immense dose of controller data, try thinning it out a bit. Start by removing redundant MIDI data (via the MIDI menu). You can try thinning out data in the browser too (i.e. most saved MIDI files include bank MSB, LSB data, Program change data, Volume, pan, etc.). If you don't need the information in the MIDI file, delete it. Things like Aftertouch, can be especially troublesome if you are working on many tracks, unless you have rock solid MIDI setup.
