Ok guys, this question may come off a little dopey but please bear with me and just answer as best you can.;)

The alleged scenario:
You have two dynamic mics.
Both are the exact same model with the same specs except one was factory issued low impedence and the other was factory issued high impedence.

The question:
Given the same set variables(i.e. signal chain) and plugged into their respected inputs, will they sound about the same? If not, how might the difference sound?

Of course we are talking theoretically and with short cords.

Thanks:cool:

hi, I am a newbie so I think this is a guess more than a good answer. But I will think that the sound will have to do more with the input impedance-output impedance relationship, more closely if with both mics you can do a "bridging" (relatively big load imp. vs low source imp.).

Anyways, that is as far as I can adventure an answer, but I recommend you to check the thread "Impedance Explained", with great explanations by Skippy, Harvey, and the usual:

Hope it helps, cheers

This is just a guess but if the high Z mic is going into a High Z input and the low Z mic into a lowZ input, theoretically they'll sound the same, given that the match on the inputs is good. Theoretically that is.

i'll bet you can re-wire (reconfigure) the Hi-Z mic to Low-Z.

i'd check with the manufacturer. i've done this on more than one occasion.
