Impedance mismatch: rackmount synth into SansAmp GT-2

What can I do to correct this?

maybe a direct box? is it a Hi-Z/Lo-Z thing? how are you going out from the synth?

No idea what the respective impedances are. The SansAmp is made for an electric guitar signal, if that tells you anything. The synth only has two 1/4" TS audio outputs, a stereo pair. I'm running the left/mono side into the pedal.

Synth should be Line Level...if you lower the outpout of the synth, it should be fine.

That reduces the noise somewhat. But then the level is too low when the pedal is bypassed.

Get an A/B switch.

Been doing some reading on another board about this. It seems the only way to get rid of the GT-2 noise involves using another pedal.

The trick seems to be to use another pedal for distortion and use the GT-2 at moderate levels for amp coloration.

You just need to adjust the Output level control on the GT-2 so that bypassed & effected are both at the same level.

diggy, talk to me about the active/bypass switch on your GT-2.

i just picked up a Bass Driver DI yesterday. and although the switch is functional, there's no mechanical "click" when you press it like there would be on a similiar-style switch of an MXR or EHX box. it's very smooth-feeling. i don't know if that's how these pedals are made, or if i should take it back and swap it out for another.

There's a page on Tech 21's site where they explain why they don't use the so-called "true bypass" switch that's all the rage.

Mine doesn't have that hard click either. It's definitely a momentary type switch that activates an electronic latch.
