The setup I have is annoying me because I cant see the meters really well...
So I've decided to change things up a bit and heres what I came up with:

The only part I might have trouble with is moving the meters in front of the MS16 "brain".

Tell me what you all think. I hope this can work. :D

Not real appealing to me. I think it looks better in the cart.

I know it's tricky, but can you use your mixer meters to gage the input? Otherwise as long as it works like that I see no harm.

The meters on my mixer dont match up to the ones on the recorder.

They made a meter bridge extension cable but I wouldn't know where to get one.

Well I looked in the manual and it shows step by step how to remove the meters to put into the roller cart. So Im just going backwards. Ive already got most of it I just need to finish up the connector part. There is this one damn screw that just wont budge.

I tried to connect the meter bridge to the connector but this gold metal clamp gets in the way. I can loosen the screws but I'm not sure what do to.

Ive got it! The meter bridge needs spacers in between the blue plastic and gold clamp... I dont have any though...

Just a word of the wise: Do NOT use fluorescent lighting in your studio! It adds TONS of noise to your electricity, which can be heard easily even at low volumes. Dimmers, too, although I think there's a way around that.

I have an overhead CFL lamp in my apartment and that thing gets turned off when I'm working on music.

Hope I spared you some pain! :)

Oh, and another tip: I keep my tape in a closet about 15 feet from my decks. That way I don't have to worry about erasing anything when I demag my decks :)

Thanks for the tips. I will definitely move those tapes. I haven't demaged my ms16 yet (im a little afraid to). I demaged my 4 track but I couldnt even tell if I did it correctly or not. Its funny, you know I noticed my light would flicker or dim every time I would record. I could sometimes also hear a harmonic noise on one guitar track I recorded. :laughings:

I'm surprised so many tape decks are placed in these rolling carts, personally I think it takes up too much space and if i owned an MS16 i would definitely have it out of the cart.
