Ive been looking at possible heads for awhile now. Im looking for something with amazing distortion and that is heavier than hell. Im stuck between the Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier and the Peavey 6505+. I have heard so many good things about both. Any suggestions?

I'd go with the Mesa, not only do you get great sound but you get great build quality.

The last time I was stuck between amps, it was in an equipment truck and I had to call for help. :D

Have you considered a Roadster?
More options than the Recto's I believe, though I have not looked at them in depth.....

I just found this out. The Rectifier tubes in a Mesa don't do anything. You can pull them and the amp still works. If you're going to buy a mesa, get one from about 5 or 6 years ago, recently, their quality control has really hit the skids. It's a shame, I've got a 2001 F-100 that fell out of a moving van and she's still going strong!

Even in "tube" mode apparantly. Mesa blames it on not being able to get any good rectifier tubes.
