ok, so i'm using project5 to record a basic drum track onto sonar 2. i can hear the drums, and i can see that it's recording onto a midi track in sonar (i see the midi "dots"). but when i play back, i don't hear anything. i have both midi ins and outs active (or else the program would warn me about not having either/or). i've tried different combos of inputs and outputs, and even messed with the channels (don't know what good that would do, so i pretty much leave it on "midi omni"). any ideas on why playback isn't occuring? i wanna get this straightened out before i start using reason 2. thanks!

Are you assinging the tracks to a softsynth to play them?

tex,

i'm not exactly sure by what you mean. i figured that if it records, it MUST play back, right? about the only thing i can mess with are the inputs and outputs of the sonar midi track, and none of the combinations i've tried work. i haven't tried messing with all 16 channels though. i'm only messing with the controls in Sonar, not Project5.

what's funny is that when load up my gigastudio demo and record a piano track, i can hear the playback.

In order for the MIDI track in SONAR to play, you have to route it to a MIDI synth.

The Project5 synths surely must appear in your DXi list. Read the documentation on using DXi in the SONAR Help system...

Only when you record audio files. Midi files need a hardware or software synth to actually make the sounds.
