...but I play one on Midi.
This is my first attempt at sequencing drums via midi through my Sonar interface. (Did that at least sound like I know what I'm talking about?) I'm using the Korg for drum samples and basically I completely replaced the old drums on this song with something I hope is more alive.

"The Wind and a Tumbleweed"

Also, Sabb, if you read this you might like some of the changes and additions I made to "Nights in November." :p

Can't wait to move out of apartments so I can crank the goddam Marshall to Eleven!

me neither...

Well the question is whether you wanted it to sound like the real drummer. If you did it sounds like he is got 4 arms :D just kidding.

I heard like a snare roll or something at 3:50 or so that just sounded so quick and humanly impossable. Also it seems the that stereo is way too wide on the drums.

If you didn't go for the real drumer thing then it's defenatly very interesting and changing texture there. The stereo is still too wide though. just MHO

cheers

Ya the drums are probably a bit overkill here and there. Just ideas for now. I also just started experimenting with a stereo expander so I'm sure I'm beating the shit outa that too!
I'll go try and back that off. Thanks Fed!

SLuiCe, dude, you know I dig this tune....... BUT,

Toooo loud on the drums in some spots..almost too busy in others... I dont like this mix as compared to the other...It sounds too harsh in some spots.... Did you lower the vocals? I like the wideness of the drums, but I'm not sure if I like it better than the other.. It's a bit too busy.. The vocals are low in spots and jump out in others.. Something about this version is not as good IMOP. I dig the tune but the guitars at around 3:30ish made me have to turn the volume down IMMEDIATELY...harsh.... SLuiCe my brother, I dont like this mix.. I normally play tunes at a pretty decent volume and I had to lower this a few times... How do you spell remix :D Please dude, restore the tune or remix it... This is all IMHOP mind you, but being that I like the tune so much, I had to point these things out.. Hope you dont think I'm bashing you.. It just sounds different....for the worse I think..

Nights in November - cool... BUT, I can barely hear the bass drum... Only every now and then I hear it.. I think you have to get used to those new monitors because there is not enough meat to these mixes.. I would enjoy it much more if it sounded a little warmer... maybe tooo normalized? I dont know dude.. I dig the tunes but they need some meat mix wise..

I rarely type responses this long... I hope you realize its because I like the tunes...:) It just sounds like the mix has been too processed, or normalized or something..

One more thing, 'Townie' had more meat than the others.. What ever you did or didnt do, do that.... Although that had other mix problems:eek:

leads that came in tooo hot etc.

:D

Either the speakers are lying right through their teeth, or I'm just going over it way too much and my ears are getting horribly numb. I realize it's not standard top 40 stuff, but what am I doing??? Too many tracks maybe.

Step away from the computer, Sluice. We don't want to hurt you. We're hear to help. Here's some Visine.
;)

Sabb, thanks for the honesty. I think I'd better buy monitors...and soon. *Reaches into penny jar*

Fu............**ck do you have a tune with need here!! Aside from the drums (which you will recieve ample help on) I loved the build and flavor as the song went on. However, I was bristled, abraited, and down right rubbed wrong by the vox level. That tradk and the back up vox Never sat in the mix correctly!! Please let the vox be heard. I can sence that they rock are huge to the tune. Re-think the mix and leave room for, even mix around, the the vocals and if you don't find improvement I'll not post to your engulfing songs again..................well maybe I will.

Anyway, nice concept and tracking.

Theron.

I've listened again with fresh ears and I am sincerely sorry I posted this so prematurely. In the future I'm going to test things out on other systems before posting for critique. I hope the tracks didn't annoy too much. I'm using cheap Klipsch's until I can swing the loot for monitors. I'm just trying to get these whacky ideas down. Damn it Jim I'm a guitarist, not a sound engineer! I appreciate the patience and replies.
