Just stumbled into this forum. I'm a singer/songwriter based in NY with a band called Project Mercury.

I started out recording demos on a 4-track Tascam Porta-Studio, then moved on to Pro Tools on a Mac. Recorded a CD in a "real" studio but I still do demos on the Mac. Now I've begun to record vocals for other songwriters out-of-state virtually using Pro Tools.

I may be needing tech support from time to time so hope to "meet" you all soon!

this website sure is useful. I've been her for a year and about 2 months (over 600 threads/replys) and i have learned alot. i could very well be the youngest member here. (i'm 14) hope to see you around soon!

Like everyone else says, welcome. I've only been here a couple of months but in that brief period I've gotten lots of answers and have tried to help when i could. That seems to be the general spirit here so make yourself at home and ask away, some answers may surprise you.

Yes, you can find out everything you need here and much much more......as someone mentioned, the search at the bottom is a very good tool because just about everything has been discussed at some point.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

My next mission is not real creative but will be very helpful to me in the days ahead. I have my first prospective voice student & her mom coming to meet me tonight.

Since my accompaniment skills are iffy, I'm going to lay down some tracks of scales that I will eventually use for vocal exercises. Click track, then synthesized piano, mixed down without the click. Then I can burn CDs with these too, for students to practice with at home.
