Hi everyone! It's my first Post here. I hope it will b lots of fun.

I whould like please to know If somebody can help me find a good Pro Tools Interfacer with MIDI and Audio inputs for a low price. in Australa.

Yoel.

Hey.
What version of Pro tools are you looking at? With V9 and V10 you aren't tied to avid/digidesign hardware.
Also, how many analog inputs do you need, and what kind? Mic preamps, line inputs, instrument inputs?

I think you're limited to the avid interfaces that were available at the time.

003® family, Digi 002® family, Mbox 2 Pro, Mbox 2 Mini.

There's Pro Tools M-Powered 8. It'll work with many m-audio interfaces.

Hi Yoel, I bought an mbox from Sweetwater Music that came with Pro Tools Express. Not a bad deal for $399.00. Plus a few extra plug-ins.

I think you'll be happy with an Mbox if you find the right one for PT8, and it has enough inputs for you.
I use an Mbox 3 and so far it has performed almost flawlessly.

I think the best thing going at the moment for those interested in Pro Tools has to be the Eleven Rack.

Right now the 11R sells for $700 (it cost me around $1,000 when I bought mine), just like PT10. The cool bit is that the 11R comes with PT for $700! It's like buying PT and getting the 11R for free! While the Eleven Rack is a single channel interface, it does have a stereo pair of line ins, allowing you to hook up your keyboard, or E-Drum kit and record it's audio.

If this is out of the budget, then here's an affordable option:

If you have a Guitar Center nearby, they offer a free Pro Tools class conducted every Saturday for a month.
Day 1: Overview, Interfaces, and Microphones
Day 2: Audio
Day 3: Midi
Day 4: Mixing and editing.

These classes are well worth it. Heck they're FREE!

If you play guitar, the Eleven Rack is the one to go.
I use it on everything but drums. You can record up to 4 tracks at once, I guess. If you buy it today, I´ll get PT 11 for free.
I bought a external preamp because the built in is not so good on high gain settings, which you´ll need to record dynamic mics.

I have to disagree with the preamp thing. I've been able to come up with some great high-gain presets. I'm loving it. I just had to tweak the stock presets from their "Ok" status to "Great". Sometimes it just took a simple tweak of the mic or cabinet settings, but other times it was a full rebuild of the patch. Oh well, to each their own. 8-)

That all being said, I'm actually using the Presonus AudioBox 1818vsl as my interface of choice with Pro Tools 10 (I upgraded from PT8 LE). With the 8 mic pres I can now mic up my drumset. For the most part I have my Roland XP-80 ('90s era workstation) keyboard going into 1 & 2, with the Eleven Rack coming in via 3 & 4.

In any case keep on rockin and have fun with it!
