Catalog ordering or online, is a great way to save money over walking into a store. For now, you don't have to pay shipping on orders over $250 from most catalogs, and no Tax. One benifit of ordering from Sweetwater, even thought you may pay a little more, is support. I order alot from MF, Sam Ash, AMS catalogs, but if you have to call them about using the gear you bought, you may as well go ask your little sister for advice. They sell lots of stuff, but don't have much if any experience in using it.
Sweetwater, and I'm sure their are a few others, are experienced in using what they sell. If you already know what you want, and you are good at figuring out how to use it, shoot for the cheaper price. But if your not sure what you need, and know even less about how you can use it when you get it, go for Sweetwater, ask for Brad Lyons, and no he didn't put me up to this plug. I'm a member of the VSPlanet too, GawsDigitalUnderground, over there. Brads always helpful in giving suggestions on gear, and i heed his advice quite often, and he freely gives it, even though i haven't actually bought from Sweetwater yet. But i know when i'm ready to step up to a full blown Protools rig, or some other important studio purchase, I can call Brad, and he'll treat me right. That's worth alot these days.
