But before you start dumping money into gear: if you're bored, why not do a little experimenting? Try your amp in the corner, with the mic facing the ceiling... or the amp on a wood floor with the mic facing the floor... or at the bottom of the stairs with the mic at the top, etc... or whatever...

I've compared side by side takes of a guitar cab done with SM57, E609, D770, ND767, RE20, and ND468.......if you remove the RE20 just due to his price limit, then I can tell you from first hand experience that the ND468 smokes the other mics right outa the house.....
