yeah very sweet tune.. good job creating the music around the lyrics..

if I had to find a nit, it would be with the mando.. in some spots it's just little tinkering sounds that only distract from the vocals.. my beef is more with the mando performance in some spots when your singing, not the sound.. maybe just some punches would do it.. as with lots of things, it bothers me less on the third spin..
 
could you post the pyrics/poem??? I am interested in reading. Cant pick out every word. thanks

Well, I've been trying to keep my post count at 250. I've kept it there, and have spent the last 8 months......only hanging in the cave. But I'm gonna ruin my 250 for this song. Everything I've heard from you, I've really liked. Great song. And I also don't think you should change a thing. The song comes across just fine.

great acoustic tone............love the mando too.......sometimes i wish i hadn't traded mine for a bass, but i do use the bass a little more than the mando.............

strong vocal track too..........reminds me of someone but it's escaping me right now/...

I loved the track!

Great playing and singing all around.

My only qualm with the recording was the eq of the vocals. There seemed to be a real honk around the 800 hz area and some plosives on some words. Perhaps you were too close to the mic or that a decent pop filter was not employed in the tracking process. Otherwise, a truly great track!

I was reminded of early Cat Stevens in your vocals and I loved his stuff!

Outstanding! Dude, I would kill for a voice like yours. You did an excellent job on this piece. I really like it.

I have a tune I'd like to get some mando on if you're interested, just PM me. Be forwarned though, it's gonna be quite a while before I will be able to get around to it.

Very nice work Dan, really like it when the back vocals are hitting the vocal lines in unison. Really well captured vox there too. Just curious, do i hear a bit of chorus on the mandolin? Sweet music, reminds me of a campfire folk tune with folks sitting around at night the light of the flames lighting their face.
 
finger, hey man, good to hear from you. thanks a lot for the comments. had a good WNJ this week. fiddle Watt and mando Dave didn't make it, but singing Steve, guitar Jerry, and bassman Perry did, and I got to play mando all evening. it was a joyous night.

TGoFM, panty hose man, panty hose, LOL. You are right, I tend to rock a little (as in to and fro) when I play and sing. I know I get a little close sometimes. I'm usually thinking about it just after I track sumpin. he he he Thanks for the listen and great comments.

hey Khompewtur, thanks man. no chorus on the mando, just on the guitar and vocals. I did cut the high a little on the mando. and wow, I'm working on a campfire song. I was working on it tonight, thinking of trying to get a scratch track up this weekend. how'd you know that. magic? Thanks a lot friend.

I listened to this last night and posted something, but it isn't here. Never mind.

I'd leave the mandolin in - it sounds real good in this song. You can add bass if you want to, but you know, the song doesn't need it - it's gentle the way it is, which suits the grief. If I was gonna add one instrument, it'd be pedal steel. Just slow little tasty bits coming in on one of the verses after the song got rolling. I'd like the vocal up just a taste, so that it sounds as upfront as the instruments.

Nice song, nice performance, nice sound.

how 'bout a harmonica?

there is something at about 3:20 when the tempo slows, like the two gtrs are at odds, maybe pull back on the trem. work of the "mando" here (not sure)
