Hi , I have a pro tools m powered without the Ilok , but I need authorize it , would buying the Ilok help it ?

what version are you trying to run?
the ilok on its own is no use without a license on it.....and i'd imagine, if you've bought protools mpowered, you should have received an ilok with it?
perhaps there is more to it than this though,,,,,any mpowered users in 2nite?

You need to have an iLok with the correct license for Pro Tools M-Powered on it; there's no way to run it without.

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and fairly new to Pro Tools. When LE 8 came out I heard so many good things about it that I jumped in the game and really like it. I'm not too keen on the MBox2 however and am thinking about getting the M Powered version of PT. Does that automatically require an iLok? I assume it does, and that the iLok comes in the package. Here are the questions I have before I make any moves.
1. If you have M Powered and lose the iLok how readily can it be replaced? Can you simply buy another one from a good music store? What kind of hassels await if you lose or break an iLok?
2. Is M Powered a totally separate system? Will I be able to run my PT LE 8 as I always have as one system, and M Powered will be another system? Will I have both programs to choose from? (In case the iLok is lost I'm hoping LE 8 is still there and functional as a back up.)
3. I see ads with people selling their laptops with Pro Tools on it. I try to play by the rules and am curious if the registration, title, and everything transfers legally with such a sale. What are the pros and cons of this? If someone has M Powered and sells it, does everything transfer, including the use of the iLok? Does it all have to be re-registered?
4. Is the iLok specific to one machine? If I have a desk top DAW and a laptop and both are running M Powered, does the same iLok operate both systems?
Basically I'm just seeking the basic and necessary info on M-Powered, the iLok, and the transfer of title and registration if someone buys a PT DAW from a friend. Any info any of you can provide will be appreciated.
