How does one steal software if its installed on your system?

If you registered it, try calling Cakewalk for replacement CD's.

Do what brzilian said. You'll be charged for the copy & shipping, but still much cheaper than buying new package. And this time, make sure you make back up installation CD!

Back up installation CD? Do you do that? I have always assumed that if I have a registered product, like Sonar, Reason, SF etc. and it goes south (the CDs are taken or burned up in a fire), Sonar etc. will replace them if I have my serial #. As a result, I keep a fairly up to date list of serial numbers and about once every two months, burn a cd with them (and e-mails of products I have purchased via the net) and take it to my mother's house (assuming that any be-all-end-all disaster that would wack our two houses  would be so severe I wouldn't worry about software.)

Well off course! The original sat there in the box. Since I live far far away in the middle of nowhere, waiting for replacement would be PITA if I lost it. I did the same thing with the manual. Hard copy 'em. Like most of you, I read the manual in the closet. And you don't expect me to put my original manual in the closet, do you? :D Make a back up costs a penny, but safe your time & money alot in the future.

Wow, I back up things that would be hard to prove that I owned (loops etc.) I also think (hope) the old homeowner's insurance would cover it if I had a robbery or fire or something. Hope I'm right, I am way toooo lazy to back up every one of the big programs I own. (Also, Portland isn't the center of the world.... but it's not the end either!)

At least I am a backup geek for serial #s, files, downloaded stuff etc. I had two major losses in hard drives and am not going to get stuck like that again!! Damnit!
