what if I use my beringer truth (but not under oath) monitors for door stops?

I guess I'm a lot dumber for investing in the V-Amp Pro and saving half what the inteligent people paid for their PODs even though they got less routing functions, poorer ergonomics and less functionability

Dumb is this years Smart
Well, in my opinion and taste of guitar tone, you get half the tone with the VAMP which sounds a lot more plasticky to me. I guess it all depends on the music style you play.

Actually, I do own some Behringer gear. And it's not half bad.

Behringer gear is worth what it is:
1) Cheap and poorly constructed
2) Asian made
3) Reverse engineered designs from the US masters of the art.

It's all about "What quality levels am I used to ? How much am I willing to spend and How long do I want to keep this gear ?"

Well, having just listened to your stuff, I would say you should investigate a few Behringer peices.

Actually, after listening to some of yours ... you could stand to investigate hiring someone who knows what they're doing to engineer for you.

Maybe I could bring over some of my Behringer stuff. I'll also be sure to bring the leather spandex so I can join in on the Van Halen covers.

Of all the mixes I've heard from members of the board (or at least, the ones that I remember about...), Ford's mixes are the best IMHO. Still, I probably don't remember you mixes quite well. I should hear you again so I could give an honest opinion. Undoubtely, Ford's mixes that I heard (especially the Van Halen band....) are much better than the BlueBear mixes that are on Bruce's site.

Well, you definitely have good mixing skills going on. Certainly, these skills seem to be on par with Ford Van, definitely in the "quite a pro" league.

If I had to be picky, I'd say the common weakness in all your mixes are the drums, but that could be due to a personnal preference. On some songs, the drums sound a little more like what I would want, but still not as "trigged" as I like. It seems you often go for the "natural overheaded drum sound" and this is not my personnal preference, so don't take my opinion too hard. Still, I really appreciated the level balance and positioning of the instruments. Even though I didn't like the tone of the drums, their loudness was spot on on some songs and a little too buried for me on others, but those were "rough mixes" I think.

A note about the Behringer comment: While I didn't think the guitar tones were astonishing, they did well except a one place where there was a slight flanger effect that sounded like digital poo to me. Otherwise, you tweaked it good me thinks. But I prefer my POD :D

That's actually good to know, because I can't stand "trigged." If you want it to sound like a drum machine, then why not just use a drum machine? :D

Sometimes you have to take client wishes in to consideration. :D If it was all about Chessrock, then I'd just replace all of them with a surrogate band when they weren't around, and then mix it all the way I like it and tell them to screw themselves.

(The Behringer comment was a joke by the way)

Actually, many drummers, including mine, like when they sound like machines!
And I'm glad it wasn't Behringer, since I admitted it sounded good :p

For some reason, that doesn't surprise me at all.

Well, listen to all the pop/rock/alternative/metal bands on the radio today. They all sound like drum machines and this is the sound one SHOULD be aiming for to get popular and mainstream sounding.

Oh, OK. Let's all jump to it then - do what everyone else is doing.

Well, it all comes down to what you want to be...a bedroom and small gig player or a popular band. We want to be popular and we take the means to do it. Where we are different than others is in the music we play, but the sound and mix has to be competitive,
