Believe it or not there are still a few PCs out there that don't have bootable CD drives. Sad, but true.

There is no way to create XP setup disks from the CD (like there was in NT4) but you can download the disks right from Microsoft. The download page was recently updated to include disks for Pro & Home versions SP1.

ONe thing that pisses me off about XP Pro is that my laptop does not have a floppy drive and XP Pro came preinstalled. However, when I set up my WLAN, and configured XP accordingly, XP gave me a few options for using XP files to configure the other computers:

1. save the files to floppy
2. use the XP install disks to set up the other computer
3. do nothing

!@#$%

I have no install disks and no floppy drive. ARRGH!

I ended up configuring the other computer myself without the help of XP.

WhyTF didn't XP allow me to save the config files to the HD then transfer them by my means of choice (i.e., CD-R, e-mail, Ethernet link, Smart Media: all of which I use often).

XP is new and high tech? Bulls**t. It still requires the use of floppies to perform certain functions.
