David - thanks for the very kind words. Since you are familiar with Restless Heart, it means alot.
Chris, Eric, Jamal and Scott - OK here's the deal on the guitar solo. The harmony solo's were retracked using the same guitar as the original version of the song that I had posted. Inbetween the two versions, the guitar had been restrung and, or course, retuned. Also, the string gauge was changed with the new strings as well. Both of the solo's in this latest version were tracked with the same guitar. They were done one right after the other, within a few minutes of each other. So either the guitar's got intonation problems (a possibility) or I don't know what.
However, I plan to check the two parts out using Autotune's graphical mode. I've already looked at one of the guitar phrases based on Chris' original comments, and it was right on the money. However, I will check both parts in their entirety and I will let you know the results.
In all honesty, I don't hear it (or if I do, it doesn't bother me) - but then I won't claim to have the best ears for pitch.
Eric, to my mind, the harmony notes are essential to the part. I wouldn't consider eliminating a part. However, there is a possibility of maybe lowering the volume on one part to make it less dominant.
Of course, I guess I could always use Autotune to actually "correct" the part, but I really don't want to do that. Let's see what I find first. I'll save that as a last resort.
And I don't hate any of you for this (well maybe a little

). Just kidding. I don't think for a minute that you wouldn't tell me this if you didn't hear it, and ultimately that is the purpose of these clinic posts. So I do appreciate the honesty. It's just very frustrating, as I'm sure you can imagine.
As I said earlier, "Ah, fuck."
